La planète des Singes, toute une histoire. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", un chef d'oeuvre !

Vu (une première fois à Londres puis deux fois en France) et approuvé !

Il était le film le plus attendu de cet été 2014..."Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" !

Décevante en 2001 à cause d'une adaptation peu concluante, la franchise "La Planète des Singes" a bien failli s'éteindre pour de bon. Rappelons que ce film n'était qu'une commande....

Heureusement, la technologie évolue, et c'est grâce à ce changement qu'en 2011, la franchise repartira. Un nouveau reboot, " Rise of the Planet of the Apes" est alors mis en tournage. Fini les costumes de singes désormais, place à la motion capture ! (Si vous ignorez ce qu'est la motion capture, vous trouverez des explications dans les vidéos. Bon visionnage et bon Making of !).

Personne n'est alors convaincu, les reboots effraient toujours un peu car c'est du vu et du revu remis au goût du jour avec une autre sauce...mais surtout, personne n'a vraiment oublié la déception du film projeté en 2001.

Seen (for the first time in London and twice in France) and approuved! It was the most longed for movie for the 2014 summer ... " Dawn of the Planet of the Apes"!

Decepointing in 2001 because of a less than convincing adaptation, the franchise "The Planet of the Apes" almost got shot down for good. Let us be reminded that this movie was a special order.

Fortunately, technology evolved, and it was with this evolution, since 2011, that the franchise was relaunched. A new "reboot" "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" has therefor been shot. Monkey costumes are from now on over, make way to motion capture (If you don't know what is motion capture, you will find explination in the videos, Have a good watch and good Making off viewing!)

No one was nearly convinced, reboots have always scored a little because they're usualy a have-seen and have-seen-again remixed as the flavor of the day with another sauce.... But mostly, no one has really forgotten, the mere deception launched in 2001.

Des costumes à la motion capture !

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" est pourtant bel et bien en marche avec à son casting : Andy Serkis (Gollum) et James Franco (Spiderman) à sa tête. Ce reboot de 2011 démarre à partir du 4ème volet de la saga d'origine, celle de l'acteur Charlton Heston, avec "La Conquête de la Planète des Singes".

L'histoire : César est un chimpanzé doté d'une grande intelligence et né en laboratoire. Will Rodman (James Franco), un jeune scientifique brillant et créateur du virus ALZ-112, l'adoptera, puis l'élèvera et l'aimera comme son propre fils. Alors élevé dans l'amour parmi des humains, César se verra contraint de voir la réalité en face lorsqu’après avoir voulu porter secours à son "grand père adoptif" Charles Rodman (John Lithgow), il finira dans une pension pour primates où il connaitra un monde totalement opposé au sien. Malmené, abandonné, César finira par chercher sa liberté en entrainant alors tous ses congénères avec lui, congénères avec qui il espère commencer une nouvelle vie.

Le scénario est bien pensé et fluide. L'histoire est saluée à l’unanimité. Côté effets spéciaux, la technologie a fait des prouesses et subjugue les spectateurs. Les singes se révèlent être plus vrais que nature grâce à la performance des acteurs, emmenés par Andy Serkis, ainsi qu'a la motion capture qui crée l'image idéale qu'on a des personnages. Véritable succès au box office et au niveau des critiques, un deuxième volet est donc mis en production. Si la franchise a été relancée par le réalisateur Rupert Wyatt, c'est pourtant Matt Reeves qui poursuivra l'aventure.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes est donc très attendu. Le casting a changé au profit de Jason Clarke (White House Down) et Gary Oldman (Harry Potter et le prisonnier d'Azkaban, l'Ordre du Phoenix...) du côté des humains. Côté singes, Andy Serkis est toujours de la partie ainsi que Thierry Notary comme Rocket et Karin Konoval comme Maurice, cependant, Toby Kebbell remplace Christopher Gordon pour Koba.

L'histoire : Depuis dix ans les singes vivent en paix et bâtissent leur avenir. César est désormais père ainsi que Rocket, leurs fils seront ceux qui rencontreront les premiers les humains survivants de la grippe simiesque. Tout bascule lorsque l'un des humains tir et blesse l'un des deux chimpanzés. César et les siens s'en vont alors donner un avertissement aux humains afin que chacun reste chez soi. Les Humains, ayant besoin d’électricité, sont prêts à tout pour remettre en marche les générateurs électriques du barrage qui se trouve sur le territoire des singes. Dans l'ombre, Koba dont la haine des Hommes est ravivée par cette rencontre malheureuse, se révolte contre César et met toute la communauté des singes en péril en déclenchant, le premier, "l'Affrontement"!

Cette suite tient parfaitement ses promesses en consolidant la réalisation de Rupert Wyatt, réalisateur du premier volet. Le saut dans le temps, dix ans après le premier film, est correctement mis en place, grâce à la nouvelle génération de singes qui a vu le jour et dont nous en voyons un exemple avec Blue Eyes, fils de César, et Ash, fils de Rocket. La motion capture continue de faire des merveilles, et a évolué depuis le premier opus, car ce qu'il faut savoir, c'est que pour "Rise" (et bien d'autres films ayant besoin de motion capture), beaucoup de scènes nécessitants cette technologie devaient être tournées en studio car le matériel n'était pas adapté à l'époque. Dans ce deuxième film, nombreuses sont les scènes qui ont pu être tournées en plein air ! "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes " est le premier film à avoir réellement commencé à exploiter la motion capture en extérieur ! Le côté réaliste de cette suite est plus qu'impressionnant. Le jeu des acteurs est encore plus démonstratif. Andy Serkis et Toby Kebbell tout particulièrement, ont su offrir des émotions incroyablement intenses aux expressions de César et de Koba. Aucune longueur inutile qui ralentisse le rythme soutenu du scénario. Un film épique, époustouflant à la hauteur de ce qu'il annonçait, meilleur même que son prédécesseur !

Attention : Les acteurs sont indissociables de la motion capture et vice versa. Pas d'acteurs = pas de jeu et pas de réel. Pas d'animateur = pas de personnages impossibles à croiser dans nos rues....Le travail des deux parties, acteurs et animateurs (technologie), doit être reconnu à sa juste valeur, il ne faut pas négliger les uns pour les autres.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is actually well ahead with it's casting: Andy Serkis (Gollum) and James Franco (Spiderman) on his head. This 2011 reboot started with the fourth volume of the orginal saga, the Charlton Heaston's version with "The Conquest of the Planet of the Apes"

The story: Caesar is chimpanzee blessed with a high intelligence and born in a laboratory, Will Rodman (James Franco, a young brilliant scientist and creator of the virus ALZ - 112), will adopt him and love him as his own. Raised in love by humains, Caesar will be forced to face the reality when after having wanted to help his "adoptive grand father" Charles Rodman (John Lithgrow), he will end up in a monkey's pension where he will discover a totaly different world contrasting with his own. Mistreated, abandonned, Caesar will seek his freedom taking his kin along with him with the hopes of starting a new life.

The script is well thought and fluid. The story is hailed unanimously. From the special effects side, the technology made its way and empressed the spectators . The monkeys were more realistic than nature, thanks to the actors' performance, led by Andy Serkis, as well as Motion Capture which created the ideal image we have of the characters.

A real success at the box office and in the eyes of the critics, a second episode is in full production, If the franchise was relaunched by director Rupert Wyatt, it's still Matt Reeves who well continued the adventure.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was well expected. The casting changed to the Jeron Clarke's advantage (White House Down) and Gary Oldman (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the Order of the Phoenix...) from the humain's side. Apes' clan, Andy Serkis is always there as well as Thierry Notary like Rocket and Karim Konwal like Maurice, however, Toby Kebbell will replace Christopher Gordon for Koba.

The story: for ten years, apes have been living in peace and built their own future. Caesar is now a father just like Rocket, their sons are the ones to meet first the humain survivors of the simiesque flue. Everything changed when one of the humans fired and wounded one of the apes. Caesar and his kin then give humans a warning, everyone must know their place. Humans, in desperate need of electricity, were ready for anything to get the dam's electric genereators working again. although it was in the apes territory. In the shadows, Koba, whose hatred of the humans is kindled by this sad meeting, will revolt against Caesar and met all of the endangered community by starting, first hand, the Dawn!

This sequel held perfectly it's promesses consolidating Rupert Wyatt's production, was correctly put in place, thanks to the new apes' generation that saw the day and through which we see an example with Blue Eyes, son of Ceasar, and Ash son of Rocket. The motion capture continued to do wonders, and evolved since the first opus, because of what we needed to know, it's that for the "Rise" (as well as other movies needing motion capture), lots of scenes needing this technology should have been shot in studios because the equipment wasn't adapted to the era. Is this the second movie, numerous were the scenes that could have been shot outside! The realistic wide of the sequel is more than impressive. The actor's play is more convincing. Andy Serkis and Toby Kebbell, most particularly, knew how to offer incredible intense emotions to Ceasar and Kobe. No seconds were waisted in slowing down the rythm of the script.. An epic movie , mind-blowing to the expectations he promised, better than his predecessor.

Watch out: actors are inseperable of the motion capture and vice versa. No actor means no play and no reality. No animator means no impossible to meet on the streets characters... The work of both teams, actors and animators (technology), must be recognized to their true value, on or the other should not be neglected.

Andy Serkis, Impossible de passer à côté de ce nom. Alors qui est cet acteur ?

Cet acteur est bien connu pour être le pionner de cette technologie appelée motion capture. Un grand nom du cinéma, et pourtant, on connait peu son visage. Pour ceux qui perçoive cet artiste comme un acteur de doublage, changez de regard ! Andy Serkis est l'acteur qui a donné vie à la toute première créature de synthèse du cinéma, Gollum dans le film le "Seigneur des Anneaux" du réalisateur Peter Jackson ! Quand je prétend qu'il a donné vie à cette créature, il ne s'est pas contenté de lui prêter sa voix, non, Andy Serkis se cache derrière chacun de ses mouvements et  ses expressions. Comme tout acteur reconnu à l'écran, il a prêté son corps à la créature (Gollum). Voici Andy Serkis et tous les rôles qu'il a interprété depuis la naissance de Gollum, ce rôle qui lui apportera en 2001, sa première consacrétion.

En 2005, il est King Kong, un film signé par le réalisateur Peter Jackson.

En 2008, nous découvrons son vrai visage dans le film "Coeur d'Encre" du réalisateur Iain Softley et du film "Bienvenue au Cottage" du réalisateur Paul Andrew Williams. Ce ne sont cependant pas les rôles pour lesquels on le remarquera le plus.

En 2010, il est William Hare (visage découvert)  dans le film "Cadavres à la Pelle" de John Landis.

En 2011, Andy Serkis aura droit à une nouvelle consécration, de taille celle-ci. Il interprète désormais César dans le film "la Planète des Singes : les Origines".

En 2011 toujours, il prêtera également ses traits au Capitaine Haddock dans le film "Tintin : le Secret de la Licorne", un film signé du grand Steven Spielberg.

En 2012, il reprendra son rôle de Gollum dans le film "Le voyage d'un Hobbit" première partie.

En 2014, Il redevient César dans le film "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", actuellement projeté en salle !

Et en 2016, il reviendra sous les traits du Capitaine Haddock.

A savoir : Andy Serkis a récemment rejoint le casting de Star Wars VII prévu pour Décembre 2015, ainsi que celui d'Avengers age of Ultron, prévu courant Avril 2015  !  Concernant Avengers age of Ultron, il a été appelé sur le tournage, au début, comme coach pour aider l'acteur Marc Ruffalo dans son rôle de Hulk. Par la suite, Andy Serkis a révélé avoir un rôle (non précisé) dans le film.

This actor is well known to be the pioneer of the technology known as Motion Capture. A grand name of the movie theater, and, yet, we barely know his face. For those who perceive this artist like a dubbing actor, change this look! Andy Serkis is the actor who gave life to the first ever synthetis creature of the movie theaters, Gollum in Lord of the Ring, produced by Peter Jackson! When I say gave life to this creature, he did not content himself to lent his voice, no, Andy Serkis and all the parts he played since Gollum's birth, this part will bring him in 2001, his first consecration. In 2005, he is King Kong, a movie directed by Peter Jackson.

In 2008, we discover his real face in Inkheart from the director Paul Andrew William. These aren't however the only parts we notice him most.

About the Avengers: Age of Ultron, he was called to the shooting at first, as a coach for Mike Ruffalo in his part of Hulk. Afterwards, Andy Serkis revealed having a part (no details on the movie).
